The most southern tip of the Boso Peninsula, Chikura town in Chiba, is a scenic spot for flower gardens and the rough Pacific Ocean in Japan.
Our sushi restaurant "Sushi-Dokoro Iijima" is located on the beachfront.

We serve one group per day, and offer the best Boso seafood for each season.
Please indulge yourself in our relaxing space.

Sushi Making Experience

This course offers you the chance to experience being a sushi chef and also to learn about Japanese culture through making sushi.

You can learn everything from the foundations of Japanese cooking to the advanced techniques of sushi-making from an experienced chef. At the end of the course, you will be able to eat your delicious sushi! This unique experience will make your time in Japan special and unforgettable.

Note: On Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and as well as on and before national holidays, we are only able to accept people who have chosen the sushi plus accommodation package.

About the Accommodation

To fully enjoy and relax the Southern Boso, you can stay at "Sushi-Dokoro Iijima". After dining on the first floor, you can settle down on the second floor in a Japanese style room. As the whole building is reserved, small children can enjoy themselves without any hesitation. Please relax and enjoy the view of the Pacific Ocean.
Accommodation including dinner and breakfast starts at ¥18,000 ~ (per adult)

We will prepare the menu to fit your requests. Please feel free to share your food preferences or allergies with us when making a reservation.

We use the best ingredients from local markets and our vegetable garden, freshly harvested in the morning. We can consult with you about the menu and adjust the budget as you make your reservation. Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any special requests for us.

About Sushi-Dokoro Iijima

"Sushi-Dokoro Iijima" is limited to only one party per day to serve you with the best possible hospitality. We will serve you delicious Japanese cuisine with seasonal ingredients, mainly local seafood.

Master sushi chef Mr. Katsuyoshi Iijima

Mr. Iijima was born in Tokyo. He frequently visited Minamiboso, Chiba, for fishing as a hobby for 40 years.
He was attracted to the area by the nature and the people's warmheartedness and decided to open a sushi restaurant in Shiramazu, Chikura in 2004.
His restaurant operates on an appointment-based system, and limits the customers to one group at a time to let them feel comfortable while they have dinner or spend the night. Iijima's sushi uses fresh fish caught in this area and rice that he grows without chemicals. The chef cherishes contact with customers and explains the food and how to prepare dishes while he makes sushi at the counter, and also suggests suitable sake to match dishes.
He began participating in activities to spread sushi culture around the world in 2011, and began a sushi-making experience class in 2017.

He is licensed as a fugu chef, sake taster, shochu advisor, Chinese herbal cuisine instructor, vegetable sommelier and has a sushi proficiency certificate.

From Tokyo:
Take the Uchibo Line Express from JR-Tokyo Station for approximately 2 hours and get off at Chikura Station.
Take the local bus bound for Awa Shirahama and get off at Shiramazu Ohanabatake. You will arrive at "Sushi-Dokoro Iijima" within 5 minutes on foot.

From Tokyo:
Take the Boso Nanohana Highway Bus from the JR Yaesu South Exit bound for Shirahama.
Get off at the Shirahama Post Office and walk for 10 minutes, then you will arrive.

From Chiba:
Take the Nanso Satomi Highway Bus from the Chiba Minato Station bound for Shirahama, Nojimazaki Lighthouse.
Get off at the Shirahama Post Office and walk for 10 minutes, then you will arrive.

Go south on the Route 410. After you pass the Shirahama’s Ohanabatake Michi-no-Eki, take a left at the large intersection.
Go down the road until it stops at the road along the ocean. Take a left and you will see "Sushi-Dokoro Iijima" on your left.
